NIH supported post-doctoral associate position is available in Dr. Lei Yang Lab at the Department of Pediatrics, Indiana University School of Medicine. IU School of Medicine is the largest medical school in the United State. Salary compensation is at NIH scale. The successful candidate will also have access to the generous IU retirement benefit package.

The major focus of our research is on the roles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in human heart development, metabolism and cardiovascular disease. We primarily use human embryonic stem (ES) cells, patient-derived induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells and mouse genetic models. During past years, the lab has published in Genome Biology, Developmental Cell, Nature Communications, Nature, etc. Additional information of the lab could be obtained from the website: https://medicine.iu.edu/faculty-labs/yang-lei.

The position will focus on studying novel molecule mechanisms of long non-coding RNAs in regulating lipid metabolism of human cardiovascular cells, and lipid metabolism associated cardiovascular diseases. The successful candidate is expected to be self-motivated with a recent Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, cell biology or cardiovascular related research fields. Solid experience in molecular biology techniques and ability to independently work in a collaborative research environment are required. Preference will be given to individuals with hands-on experience in lncRNA or epigenetics. Bioinformatics skills are a plus.

The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research (http://www.wellscenter.iupui.edu/) has ongoing collaborative programs in molecular oncology and experimental therapeutics, cardiac developmental biology, diabetes, hematologic malignancies and stem cell biology, cardiovascular genetics and infectious disease and global health.

As the nation’s largest medical school, IUSM is committed to being an institution that not only reflects the diversity of the learners we teach and the patient populations we serve, but also pursues the values of diversity, equity and inclusion that inform academic excellence.
