　　A postdoctoral fellow position is immediately available for a highly motivated recent PhD or MD/PhD graduate in cancer biology, genetics or molecular/cell biology. We have recently defined the shared transcriptome between seeming normal airway cells close to a lung tumor and the lung tumor itself, an effect we refer to as field cancerization and that is highly pertinent to lung cancer development. The focus of research for this position will be to investigate the role of the airway field cancerization concept in lung cancer development using a novel transgenic mouse model for lung cancer and molecular biology approaches that include high-throughput “omics” techniques. The project will also involve understanding the role of a lung-specific tumor suppressor in lung inflammation and tumor development. Prior experience in molecular and cell biology, animal models of carcinogenesis and transgenic mouse models is necessary and prior experience in array-based profiling, next-generation sequencing, and systems biology is highly desirable. The candidate must be a recent graduate with no more than one year of postdoctoral experience, have a track record of a successful PhD degree and have at least two-first authored publications in high impact peer-reviewed scientific journals. The candidate must be independent in scientific research and writing, self-motivated, ethical, team spirited, and must have exceptional laboratory, communication, organizational and writing skills.
