The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine and the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) at the University of Arizona, Tucson, are recruiting a tenure-track cancer biologist at the Associate Professor or Professor level working on mechanisms broadly relevant to cancer and providing leadership to the basic science program in the Cancer Center. The successful applicant will also be appointed as Associate Director of Basic Sciences at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. A publication record demonstrating high-impact research and a strong funding record, appropriate to the level of appointment, are expected. Outstanding candidates at all career levels will be considered.
Established strengths in the Cancer Center include cancer genetics and genomic instability; mechanisms of carcinogenesis, invasion, and metastasis; and gene expression and metabolic dysregulation. Cellular and Molecular Medicine additionally is renowned for its programs in myofilament function, developmental cardiovascular biology, the molecular basis of complex diseases, cell polarity, and intracellular trafficking. The University of Arizona Cancer Center is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center with outstanding research programs in Cancer Biology, Therapeutic Development, Cancer Imaging, and Cancer Prevention and Control. The cancer center has excellent shared resources, an extensive research portfolio, strong cancer-specific translational research, and a premier Cancer Biology graduate training program. The position includes a significant administrative commitment dedicated to enhancement of the research programs.
